A ripple of impact: Ms. Grimshaw’s contribution to conservation

Lr3 was honored to receive an extraordinary donation from Ms. Colette Grimshaw: a collection of archived files, maps, field notes, and unpublished documents from EcoWorks, her late husband Thomas Grimshaw’s company. A dedicated researcher and passionate advocate for Belize’s marine ecosystems, Mr. Grimshaw spent decades exploring and documenting the unique biodiversity of Lighthouse Reef. His meticulous records offer a rare window into historical reef conditions, long-term species trends, and ecological changes over time. Since receiving the collection, it’s been a true adventure digging through the boxes—like opening a time capsule from the field. We’ve come across hand-drawn sketches and rough drafts of proposed conservation projects, among so many other things. Each discovery sparks curiosity and connection—not just to the data, but to the man behind it. As Ms. Grimshaw shared, Thomas believed knowledge belonged to everyone, and we’re proud to ensure that his life’s work will support future research, conservation, and education at Lr3 for years to come.
