Allison’s anole (Anolis allisoni) is a vibrant lizard species that inhabits parts of the Caribbean, including Cuba, the Bay Islands of Honduras, and Belize. It showcases striking blue-green coloration, especially in males, along with a long tail. Males also display a colorful dewlap, or throat fan, which is bright pink or orange and serves for territorial displays and attracting mates. You can spot Allison’s anole climbing trees, shrubs, and buildings on the islands of Lighthouse Reef. Like other anoles, it has specialized toe pads that enable it to cling to vertical surfaces. This diurnal species primarily feeds on insects and other small invertebrates. People admire Allison’s anole for its beauty, and it is a common sight in its habitats, contributing to the biodiversity of its range.
