About Elvis Solis
Elvis Solis is the Reef Operations Specialist for Lighthouse Reef Research Repository (Lr³), and if you spend more than five minutes on the atoll, you’ll hear his name—probably from Elvis himself. Equal parts expert and entertainer, Elvis is a certified Master Instructor with both SSI and PADI, a seasoned boat captain, and Resort Manager of one of Belize’s premier Gold Star dive resorts. He is, without a doubt, one of the most experienced and knowledgeable figures on the entire Belize Barrier Reef.
The Reef’s Most Unofficial Mayor
Elvis has the soul of a 9-year-old boy trapped in the body of a grown man with a dive belt. His energy is infectious, his stories endless, and his knowledge of the reef unmatched. Don’t bother asking him questions—he’ll answer them before you even realize you had them. Want to find an elusive eagle ray, a specific coral formation, or a perfect snapper spot? Just say the word. Elvis won’t just take you there—he’ll narrate the whole experience with the enthusiasm of a nature documentary and the flair of a stand-up comic.

Elvis insisted this be his official bio photo—he says it captures his natural habitat as Master of the Underwater World.
As a Master Instructor, Elvis has trained hundreds of divers and guides, helping to set the gold standard for dive safety and reef etiquette in Belize. His experience spans thousands of hours underwater, from rescue dives and certification courses to advanced night dives and rare species encounters. With a sixth sense for the sea and a mind like a marine field guide, Elvis is the go-to source for everything from fish behavior to boat mechanics.
…and yes, when he’s not leading dives, he’s usually standing on a torpedo in his skivvies commanding a snorkel squad, obviously.
Lighthouse Reef Research Repository (Lr³)
At Lr³, Elvis serves as the operational heartbeat of the reef. He’s the one getting boats launched, dives coordinated, gear prepped, and guests briefed. Whether escorting researchers to remote coral heads, helping students land their first lionfish, or anchoring under stars for a midnight bioluminescence hunt, Elvis makes the reef come alive.
His partnership with Lr³ isn’t just about logistics—it’s about legacy. Elvis is a storyteller, a protector, and a provocateur who brings depth, charm, and unfiltered wisdom to the team. With Elvis around, there’s no such thing as an average day on the water.
Personal Life & Philosophy
Some call him eccentric. Others call him a genius. Most call him both. Elvis lives for the sea and thrives in its unpredictability. He’s the kind of guide who can bait a line, fix a prop, and identify a nudibranch in the same breath. He’s wildly generous with his knowledge—and if you’re lucky, with his jokes.
In the end, Elvis isn’t just part of the reef—he is the reef. A living, breathing, laughing part of its wild beauty.
